#TrumpTariffs Trump wrote a post on his social media platform Truth Social. According to him, the tariff on American products purchased by China will be 10%, and Chinese products imported by the US will be taxed at 55%.

According to Bloomberg, the 55% mentioned by Trump is the sum of the universal tariff of 10% applied to all countries, including Brazil; 20% related to a kind of "punishment" for fentanyl trafficking (Trump accuses Beijing of not making efforts to curb trafficking) and about 25% of tariffs instituted during Trump's first term on some Chinese products, according to a White House official — although the exact total is not clear.

At the height of the trade war, in April, the US imposed a 145% tariff on Chinese imports, and China imposed 125% on American items.

In the following month, the two countries agreed to suspend retaliatory tariffs for 90 days while negotiating a solution. The consensus, reached in Geneva, provided that the tariffs would be 30% (from the US, on Chinese products) and 10% (from China, on American Chinese items).
