#TrumpTariffs
In 2025, Trump reintroduced aggressive tariff policies, including a 10% base tariff on most imports and up to 50% tariffs on select countries under "reciprocal" rules. A recent deal with China maintains a 55% U.S. tariff on Chinese goods, while China imposes a 10% tariff on U.S. exports. Steel and aluminum tariffs were raised to 50% under Section 232. A 90-day pause on some tariffs is in effect for trade negotiations with allies. Despite legal challenges, U.S. courts upheld key tariffs. Trump also plans to set unilateral tariff rates with major trading partners to strengthen domestic industry.
