According to Wu, the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission has launched a consultation proposing to restrict the use of potentially misleading names by unregulated entities to enhance investor protection. In response to the rise of virtual asset trading platforms, the Commission suggests expanding the list of restricted titles under the Securities and Futures Ordinance and will add similar restrictions in the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorist Financing Ordinance, covering terms such as "exchange", "trading platform", "virtual assets", and names implying association with existing institutions. The public can submit their opinions before August 11.
