What do people in the crypto world really rely on to make money?
You often hear people say: "Losing money is because of insufficient understanding."
It sounds reasonable, but if you think about it, it's actually a bit far-fetched.
Is gaining understanding really that difficult?
Not at all.
If you don’t understand, ask 10 successful people; if 9 say the same thing, that’s industry consensus.
Follow their lead, and you can still make money.
So you must first accept one fact:
In the crypto world, making money relies 99% on luck and 1% on understanding + capital.
Stop getting lost in terms like "advanced understanding" and "deep trading models."
I have seen too many people who can't even articulate logic, yet they make a fortune just by holding coins when a bull market arrives.
In a bear market, no matter how high your understanding is, it’s still hard to make money.
Are you trading? If the market has no volatility, you can’t make money;
Holding coins? Altcoins drop more than they rise, the more you buy, the more you lose;
Quantitative trading? Without market movement, you still lag behind bank interest.
Strategies aren't useless, but the best strategies are pointless without market movement.
Don’t mythologize understanding, and don’t overestimate technology.
True understanding involves doing three things:
Identifying luck (judging major trends)
Positioning in advance (laying out core assets before a bull market)
Exiting safely (taking profits before the peak, not being greedy)
Taking altcoins as an example:
For altcoins to rise, the premise is BTC is consolidating + BTC's market share is decreasing.
This is a signal, not a belief. You see the signal before you enter; that’s called following the trend;
Going all in early and holding until the bull market—that's not understanding, that's gambling.
You think others rely on technology, but in reality, they just hit the right rhythm.
A friend of mine followed the top 7 strategy accounts on Binance, and 5 of them lost money.
Why? They won because that wave of market movement suited that set of strategies.
Once the rhythm changes, everything fails.
The core of trading is always "following the trend," not "creating the trend."
To sum it up:
Making money in the crypto world relies on luck being present,
Those with understanding simply know better how to identify luck and go with the trend.
Recognizing this, you may not get rich quickly,
But you also won't suffer huge losses—this is the underlying logic for surviving long in the crypto space.
