Beginning (2017): Binance launched BNB as an ERC-20 token on the Ethereum network with a primary goal: -to reduce trading fees- on the platform. BNB holders received significant discounts when paying fees with it.
$BNB -Independence (2019): Binance launched its own blockchain, Binance Chain. (which later evolved to become (BNB Chain), and BNB migrated to it to become the native coin of this network. This was a pivotal step towards building a broader ecosystem.
