The XRP Ledger network is the blockchain that hosts Ripple's XRP token. This structure was initially developed to manage cross-border transactions using its native cryptocurrency. The information was revealed on X by Peersyst, which is participating in the development of this project. The announcement was made following a speech by Ripple's Chief Technology Officer (CTO), David Schwartz, at the Apex 2025 event currently underway in Singapore.
This "XRPL EVM" will therefore be a sidechain that will ensure compatibility between the Ethereum Virtual Machine and the XRP Ledger main network.
This new feature will be connected to the XRP Ledger main network using a bridge. Axelar will be responsible for asset transfers between the two blockchains.
