• At WWDC 2025, Apple introduced a new design and update to its OS.

  • Regarding Apple Intelligence, the company noted the continuation of work on generative models.

  • However, she still demonstrated the Foundation Models Framework and the Xcode update with ChatGPT.

The company #Apple e presented a number of updates for its operating systems, a new interface design called Liquid Glass, as well as new artificial intelligence capabilities (#ИИ ) at the annual WWDC 2025 conference. However, unlike last year's presentation, there were almost no loud statements regarding Apple Intelligence this time.

Despite the decline in 'AI hype', Apple's Vice President of Software Engineering, Craig Federighi, stated that the company continues to improve its generative models:

"We are making the generative models that power Apple Intelligence even more powerful and efficient, and we continue to integrate Apple Intelligence into more and more places in our ecosystem."

Apple is also opening access to its AI infrastructure for developers through the new Foundation Models Framework platform, allowing third-party applications to utilize the same intelligence system used in Apple's own software.

Additionally, new tools in Xcode include support for ChatGPT, code prediction, and voice programming with Swift Assist.

However, against the backdrop of expectations for breakthroughs in AI, the company's contribution over the past year has been a scientific paper titled The Illusion of Thinking, in which Apple warned about the overestimation of the capabilities of large language models, emphasizing that they mainly imitate thinking through pattern recognition.

Among other innovations from Apple:

  • messages: polls, custom backgrounds, typing indicators, group payments, improved spam filtering;

  • real-time translation in messages, FaceTime calls, and regular calls;

  • the Hold Assist feature notifies when the interlocutor has returned on the line; Call Screening asks the caller to identify themselves before connecting;

  • iPadOS 26: a new window system, expanded capabilities for the Files app, enhancement of audio/video tools for professionals;

  • visionOS 26: new spatial features, support for third-party accessories, including the PlayStation VR2 Sense controller;

  • watchOS 26: an interactive Workout Buddy for motivation during workouts.

Updates will be available in open beta testing starting July 2025, with a full release expected in the fall.

I remind you that in December 2024, Apple announced the release of new versions of the OS — iOS 18.2, iPadOS 18.2, and MacOS Sequoia 15.2 — with built-in Apple Intelligence features.

In May 2025, the company noted that it intends to update the Safari browser and replace the default search engine Google with AI services.
