#USChinaTradeTalks

The United States and China have agreed to **temporarily suspend 24 percentage points** of reciprocal tariffs for 90 days while maintaining tariffs at 10%, and they have removed additional tariffs imposed at the beginning of April 2025. China has also committed to suspending non-tariff countermeasures.

New negotiations began on **June 9 in London**, with U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, and Trade Representative Jamieson Greer meeting with the chief Chinese negotiator, Vice Premier He Lifeng. These follow the talks in May in Geneva where both sides emphasized **cooperation on fentanyl control** and addressing non-tariff barriers.

The talks aim to establish a **sustainable trade relationship** through ongoing discussions, with future meetings alternating between the countries. Markets reacted cautiously, with Treasury yields slightly declining before the London talks.
