$BTC Number of transactions in the network $BTC Bitcoin has fallen to the level of October 2023. The seven-day moving average has dropped to approximately 317,000 operations, while only 256,000 transactions were included in blocks on June 1. Changes are occurring against the backdrop of BTC prices close to historical highs and indicate a decrease in demand for block space.

Some miners have started processing transactions with very low fees. An example is the transfer by Mempool founder Mononaut with a fee of 0.1 sat/vB (≈$0.01 per transaction), which sat idle in the mempool for a month before being included in a block. A group of 31 Bitcoin Core developers in an open letter urged not to refuse to relay such atypical transactions to maintain the censorship resistance of the network.
