Do You Have Forgotten Bitcoin? Check Your Old Emails, You Could Be Rich and Not Know It
$$$$
At the beginning of the Bitcoin era, when it was worth cents, many websites known as faucets gave away small fractions of BTC just for signing up or solving a captcha. Today, those “gifts” could be worth thousands or hundreds of thousands of dollars.
🪙 How much did they give away?
Bitcoin Faucet (2010): Gave 5 BTC per user. Today that amounts to over $350,000 USD!
Freebitco.in (since 2013): Allowed claiming every hour, from 100 satoshis to 0.01 BTC.
Moon Bitcoin: Paid according to the time between claims, ideal for accumulating.
Xapo: Was both a wallet and faucet; offered satoshis just for signing up.
📧 What role did email play?
Many of these sites used email to:
Sign you up and create your account
Send payment or withdrawal confirmations
Reminders and access to your balance
In some cases, they even sent addresses or keys (something that is considered unsafe today)
🔎 How to know if you have unclaimed BTC?
Check your old emails (Gmail, Hotmail, etc.).
Look for terms like:
bitcoin, faucet, wallet, btc reward, satoshi, key, withdraw.
If you have access to that email account and find records from sites of that time, you might try to recover access.
🧠 Reflection
Millions of people tried these pages out of curiosity. Many forgot that they once received BTC. Today, that “game” from 10 or 15 years ago could be a hidden goldmine in your inbox.
What if one of those emails changes your life today? 🤑🤑🤑🤑
