Can Chinese people really not understand the role of the Federal Reserve?
The Federal Reserve does not follow the orders of the Chinese government like the Bank of China does; its assets do not belong to the state but to private banks. This means that it executes credit policies for the federal government, but any losses in profits belong to itself. At the same time, the federal government has no power to decide who the chairman of the Federal Reserve is. The chairman of the Federal Reserve is merely a spokesperson for the seven private banks that make it up, and the interest rate policies are still decided by those seven private banks, with profits and losses being their concern.
The United States... this is a capitalist country, and the state cannot engage in any business activities. All business activities of the U.S. government belong to the private sector, and the U.S. finances are entirely derived from taxes. This is completely different from communist countries. So when Trump said this, he went too far and didn't think it through. It's like he tried to undermine the U.S. Congress. On one hand, Trump tries to challenge the separation of powers in the United States, and on the other hand, he tries to provoke populism.
