I don't think it's that easy; Weishen's nice guy persona can easily collapse, and becoming a sensation might not be a good thing for him.
People like him for being poor and not making money; they don't really like his talent. No matter how many followers he gains, he can't monetize them. Once he starts to profit from his followers, it could backfire and be very dangerous.
A persona like this gets better the darker it is; someone like Weishen, a genius but struggling mathematician, can easily become the opposition for the masses.
