The American Lobby for Cryptocurrencies Demands the Addition of Protections for Software Developers in the Crypto Regulation Bill

The largest lobbying groups in the cryptocurrency sector in the United States have urged lawmakers to include legal protections for software developers and infrastructure providers in a bill aimed at regulating the digital asset market. In a joint statement issued on June 5, the "DeFi Education Fund," "Coin Center," "Solana Policy Institute," "The Digital Chamber," "Blockchain Association," "Crypto Council for Innovation," and "Bitcoin Policy Institute" called for the addition of the "Blockchain Regulatory Certainty Act" (BRCA) to the "Digital Asset Market Clarity Act" (CLARITY) of 2025. The BRCA aims to exempt non-custodial software developers from being classified as money transmitters, a classification that entails strict regulatory obligations.
