President Donald Trump told NBC News on Saturday that Elon Musk will face "very serious consequences" if he supports the Democrats challenging the Republicans who backed his budget plan.

"If he does, he will have to face the consequences for that," Trump said. "He will have to face very serious consequences if he does that."

This came as the rift between the two men erupted publicly. Trump confirmed that he does not plan to reconcile with Musk, bluntly saying, "No," when asked if he would try to fix things.

When asked if their relationship is now over, he said, "I would assume so, yes." Just a few months ago, Musk was part of the administration. Now Trump is threatening him with punishments for political donations.
