Police discovered a fraud scheme in Wuhan, arresting 32 suspects.
According to PANews, authorities in Dong Taihu district, Wuhan, have dismantled a rural-based fraud operation, arresting 32 individuals, of which 20 are in detention. The investigation revealed that this group had created scam stories involving fictitious 'wealthy and attractive' individuals to lure victims into fake cryptocurrency investment platforms. The scammers used complex scenarios to build relationships with the victims, boasting about investment returns to entice them. When the victims showed interest, they were directed to fake websites to purchase virtual currency and invest in fraudulent platforms. While the scammers controlled the supposed profits, the victims could not withdraw their money. The case is currently under further investigation.
