$USDC USD Coin (USDC) is a regulated stablecoin issued by Circle, pegged 1:1 to the U.S. dollar. Each USDC is backed by cash or short-term U.S. Treasury assets, with reserves held by regulated financial institutions and attested monthly by a Big Four accounting firm.
As of June 2025, USDC has approximately $61 billion in circulation, making it the second-largest stablecoin after Tether (USDT). Circle recently went public, with its IPO valuing the company at nearly $22 billion.
USDC is widely used for digital payments, decentralized finance (DeFi), and cross-border transactions, offering stability and transparency. However, its growing presence in traditional finance raises regulatory concerns, particularly regarding its influence on U.S. Treasury markets.
