The Hong Kong SAR Government will allocate over HKD 10 billion to develop artificial intelligence
According to reports, Hong Kong SAR Chief Executive John Lee, during his speech at the opening ceremony of the 16th Cross-Strait and Hong Kong-Macau Economic and Trade Cooperation Forum organized by the Hong Kong Chinese Manufacturers' Association, stated that Hong Kong is actively developing the artificial intelligence industry to promote the transformation and upgrading of traditional industries, aiming to build an international innovation and technology center. In terms of funding support, Hong Kong has already launched a special funding program for artificial intelligence worth HKD 3 billion to support local institutions, research organizations, and enterprises in utilizing supercomputing centers to drive research breakthroughs. At the same time, the government plans to establish a “Technology and Innovation Industry Guidance Fund” with a scale of HKD 10 billion to strengthen the guidance of market funding and promote the development of strategic emerging and future industries such as AI and robotics.
