Ukrainian mined cryptocurrency on 5000 hacked hosting accounts

Cyberpolice of Zaporizhzhia exposed a 35-year-old local resident who caused multi-million damage through hidden cryptocurrency mining on the servers of an international hosting provider.

According to the investigation, the Ukrainian hacked more than 5000 accounts of the organization and launched virtual machines using the company's resources. The losses from his activities amounted to about $4.5 million.

During the search, the police seized computer equipment, mobile phones, and bank cards. Cryptocurrency wallets, mining software, information-gathering software, and remote control software were found on the devices.
