The SR-72, nicknamed the "Son of Blackbird," is being developed by Lockheed Martin as the successor to the legendary SR-71.
It's designed to be unmanned and reach speeds of Mach 6+ - that's over 4,000 mph, making it potentially the fastest aircraft ever built.
It will use a turbine-based combined cycle (TBCC) engine, blending traditional jet propulsion with a scramjet to handle both takeoff and hypersonic speeds.
A prototype is expected by the end of 2025, and if successful, it could redefine the future of intelligence gathering and high-speed military strike missions.
