Astar Network is preparing to implement support for Asynchronous Backing from Polkadot in June, which will reduce block generation time from ~12 to ~6 seconds. The update aims to accelerate network performance and improve interaction for developers and users. At the same time, the issuance of ASTR tokens per block will be reduced by 50% without affecting the overall inflation. Staking and voting conditions will remain the same. Among the benefits: increased throughput, accelerated block production, and improved UX for dApps. Developers are advised to reconsider their solutions if they are tied to the 12-second interval.
