Hyundai has unveiled plans for a nuclear-powered container ship capable of carrying 15,000 cargo containers, marking a major step toward cleaner and more efficient maritime transport.
Powered by small modular reactors (SMRs), the ship's design removes the need for conventional fuel tanks and exhaust systems, freeing up more space for cargo and improving operational efficiency.$OG
The concept has already earned Approval in Principle from the American Bureau of Shipping and is set to undergo further evaluation at a dedicated marine nuclear demonstration site in Yongin, South Korea.
