You are not just buying $BTC .
You are saying: “$BTC is stronger than $USDT. I bet on it.”
🔄 Pair = what you are buying and what you are paying with.
— $ETH/$USDT — you are taking Ether for dollars
— $SOL/$BTC — you are taking Solana for Bitcoin
📉 Newbie mistake:
Bought $ADA/$BTC, and then yells: “why is it down in dollars?”
You are trading against BTC, not against the dollar. Get used to it.
