Elon Musk Slams Trump’s Spending Bill as “Disgusting Abomination”

Just days after leaving the White House and stepping down as head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), Elon Musk has launched a scathing attack on a new government funding bill backed by Donald Trump and the Republican Party.

Musk, who led deep budget cuts during his tenure—resulting in thousands of federal job losses—took to X (formerly Twitter), the social platform he owns, to blast the bill as “massive,” “outrageous,” and “pork-filled.”

He warned the legislation could push the U.S. budget deficit from $1.8 trillion to $2.5 trillion. Meanwhile, the Congressional Budget Office estimates the deficit could grow to between $2.3 trillion and $5 trillion over the next decade, according to Axios.

While Trump praised the bill as his “big, beautiful bill,” Musk condemned it as a “disgusting abomination.”

In a follow-up post on June 3, Musk—who was a major GOP donor during the 2024 elections—wrote:

“In November next year, we fire all politicians who betrayed the American people.”
