Why be a friend of time?
Many years ago, when I first heard this phrase, I understood it as long-termism.
Now, my understanding is deeper,
one of the most solid, indestructible, and unchangeable laws in this world is that time always moves forward, always flowing away.
Place your bets on the most certain side.
Why should you save enough for living expenses? Why should you never borrow? Why not use leverage?
Because, once your trading and speculation start to affect your life; once you borrow, you are standing on the opposite side of compound interest.
Time then becomes your enemy.
What is definitely foolish? Standing on the opposite side of time.
Because time will always move forward, and you will definitely lose.
