NASA studies the latest solar storms and discovers that Elon Musk has a serious problem on his hands
A NASA scientist has studied the re-entry of 523 Starlink satellites. His conclusions regarding the impact of solar maximum have raised the alarm. Elon Musk faces a new challenge with his Starlink satellite network, which is being affected by the increase in solar activity. A recent scientific study indicates that solar storms are accelerating the descent of these devices, compromising their operability and raising the risks of impact on Earth. The research, led by Denny Oliveira, a scientist at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center, and now available on arXiv, observed that between 2020 and 2024 a total of 523 Starlink satellites re-entered the atmosphere prematurely. This phenomenon has intensified with the arrival of the solar maximum recorded in October 2024, when the Earth's geomagnetosphere became more unstable due to solar eruptions.
