The Ethereum Foundation has recently restructured its core development team to focus on three main tasks: scaling the underlying layer (L1), increasing the data capacity to support rollups (blobspace), and enhancing the user experience.

The team previously known as PR&D is now consolidated into "Protocol" and has clearer responsibilities. This process caused some PR&D members to leave. By streamlining the team and defining specific priorities, the Ethereum Foundation hopes the network will be ready for global scaling, improving performance and experience for all users.
