Sindir Bitcoin, CEO Ripple Claims XRP Is the Future of Global Payments
In a discussion at the IMF and Swiss National Bank forum, Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse reiterated his position: Bitcoin is too slow and expensive for global transactions.
According to him, XRP serves as a solution—low cost, high speed, and capable of handling cross-border transactions on a large scale. Garlinghouse even stated that Bitcoin has yet to meet the world's increasingly demanding need for efficiency.
He also highlighted the old financial system that still relies on nostro-vostro accounts—which causes funds to get stuck and makes remittances slow. XRP, Garlinghouse said, has instant liquidity and is already used for real cases, such as sending salaries for Filipino freelancers from companies in London.
Furthermore, he compared Ripple to the early days of the internet. Just like TCP/IP and HTTP revolutionized data exchange, Ripple aims to create an “Internet of Value”—flowing money as fast as data, without needing large energy consumption like BTC mining.
💬 In your opinion, is XRP indeed more suitable for the future of the global payment system?
