In recent months, there has been increasing talk about the relationship between Donald Trump, the media he owns or supports, especially the Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG), and the world of cryptocurrencies, particularly Bitcoin.
What is Trump Media?
Trump Media is the company that owns the Truth Social platform, a social networking site founded by Trump to be an alternative to Twitter and Facebook, after he was banned from both in 2021. The company is listed on the U.S. stock exchange under the symbol DJT, and its shares have experienced significant fluctuations since their launch.
Bitcoin enters the scene
At the end of May and the beginning of June 2025, news began to spread about Trump Media's intention to adopt Bitcoin as part of its treasury. In other words: the company may start buying Bitcoin and storing it as a reserve financial asset, as companies like MicroStrategy have done before.
