Robinhood has acquired Bitstamp, the oldest cryptocurrency exchange in the world, for 200 million dollars, expanding its institutional cryptocurrency offering to Europe, the United Kingdom, and Asia.
Robinhood Markets, Inc. has closed a 200 million dollar acquisition of Bitstamp, the Luxembourg-based cryptocurrency exchange, adding more than 50 licenses and registrations and an established institutional client base to its cryptocurrency division.
The consideration of 200 million dollars has not varied from the initial agreement of June 2024 and was paid entirely in cash, according to Robinhood's statement on June 2.
