The Japanese investment company Metaplanet announced the purchase of an additional 1088 BTC for 16.88 billion yen (approximately $118 million). The firm aims to increase its portfolio to 10,000 BTC by the end of 2025.
According to the release, the average purchase price of 1 BTC was $108,596.37. As of June 2, 2025, the company controls 8888 BTC worth a total of 122.27 billion yen ($855.6 million) with a purchase price of $96,264.
At the time of writing, Bitcoin is trading at $105,571. This means that Metaplanet's portfolio is in the zone of unrealized profit of about $83 million.

The release also specifies the company's investment returns in the first cryptocurrency:
from July 1 to September 30, 2024 — 41.7%;
from October 1 to December 31 — 309.8%;
from January 1 to March 31, 2025 — 95.6%;
from April 1 to June 2 — 66.3%.
If we take the company's yield data for, for example, May 12, 2025, it can be seen that the figure in quarterly terms from April 1 has significantly increased — by 28.3%.
