The U.S. SEC Cryptocurrency Working Group Roundtable is a series of meetings held by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission to discuss issues related to cryptocurrency regulation. The meetings from April to June 2025 will cover core topics such as crypto trading, custody, asset tokenization, and DeFi, referred to as the "Spring Sprint to Crypto Clarity," marking a new direction for the SEC from enforcement-focused to collaborative and clear regulatory frameworks. April 11: The theme is "Tailored Regulation for Crypto Trading," focusing on how to create a regulatory framework tailored for the crypto trading market while emphasizing the fight against fraud in the DeFi space.
April 25: The theme is "Key Issues for Custodians," bringing together leaders from the cryptocurrency field, regulators, and legal experts to primarily discuss custodial issues, specifically the protection of digital assets.
May 12: The theme is "Asset Tokenization and Integration with Traditional Finance," held from 1:00 PM to 5:30 PM Eastern Time at the SEC headquarters in Washington, exploring how to integrate blockchain-based assets into traditional financial systems.
June 9: The roundtable originally scheduled for June 6, titled "DeFi and the American Spirit," has been rescheduled to June 9 and will focus on the regulatory implications and opportunities presented by decentralized finance (DeFi) platforms.
These meetings are open to the public and will be live-streamed to attract more public participation and discussion, collectively promoting a clearer and more mature regulatory landscape for the crypto market.
