Japanese investment firm Metaplanet just added 1,088 Bitcoin to its balance sheet on June 2, spending a massive $114 million at a price of $107,000 per BTC. This brings its total holdings to 8,888 BTC, now valued at around $930 million.

The company target? 10,000 BTC by the end of 2025, and an ambitious 21,000 BTC by the end of 2026.
To fund this Bitcoin strategy, Metaplanet recently issued a $21 million bond, adding to a total of $135 million raised through debt this year. This bold move shows strong conviction in Bitcoin’s long-term value.
Metaplanet strategy is drawing comparisons to MicroStrategy BTC playbook. By turning to Bitcoin as a reserve asset, the company is betting big on crypto as a hedge and growth engine.
