Elon Musk Unveils XChat with Bitcoin-Style Encryption

Elon Musk announced XChat, a new messaging tool on X (formerly Twitter), offering:

End-to-end encryption

Disappearing messages

Support for all file types

Audio/video calls without a phone number

Cross-device compatibility

Built in Rust and powered by Bitcoin-style encryption (Elliptic Curve Cryptography or ECC), XChat is designed for privacy, speed, and decentralization—no SIM card or mobile number needed.

How XChat Encryption Works:

Uses ECC-based protocols like ECDH, ECIES, and ECDSA for secure key exchange, message encryption, and digital signatures.

May support EdDSA, ECMQV, and ECQV certificates for advanced security and identity verification.

ECC provides strong encryption with small key sizes, reducing bandwidth and energy use.

Quantum Risk:

While ECC is secure now, quantum computing could potentially crack it 20x faster than previously thought, posing future risks to encrypted systems like XChat.
