#OrderTypes101 Market orders are the simplest type of trading orders. Typically, traders place them if they are willing to ensure that a trade is executed. They simply refer to an order that a trader places to sell or buy any asset, such as Bitcoin, immediately at its current price.

An example of a market order: Mr. X is eager to sell 0.75 Bitcoin (BTC) right now or as quickly as possible.

A market order must be executed instantly or, at least, as close to instant execution as possible. When a particular market transaction occurs and the order is completed, traders refer to it as "the order has been executed". It is worth noting that a market order will always be executed instantly, or it will not be executed.
