India Admits Jet Losses But Firmly Rejects Pakistan’s Claim of Downing Six — Bloomberg
In a stunning admission, India’s Chief of Defence Staff, General Anil Chauhan, has officially confirmed that Indian fighter jets were lost during the May 2025 clashes with Pakistan — but categorically denied Islamabad’s claim of shooting down six aircraft.
“The number isn’t important, but the reason they were downed is,” said General Chauhan during a high-profile interview at the Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore, as reported by Bloomberg.
He dismissed Pakistan’s narrative as “absolutely incorrect”, stating that Indian Air Force operations resumed swiftly after correcting initial tactical errors.
The admission follows a period of escalating military engagement sparked by the April 22 terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir. The skirmishes included airstrikes, missile launches, drone attacks, and cross-border shelling.
General Chauhan confirmed India carried out pinpoint strikes on highly defended Pakistani airbases with meter-level precision, and reassured that the situation never approached nuclear escalation.
He also criticized Pakistan’s overreliance on Chinese-made weapons systems, stating bluntly that they “didn’t work.”
