#بافيت has enough cash to acquire 478 companies listed in the S&P 500 Index

Warren Buffett now has $348 billion in cash and Treasury bills, which is enough to buy 478 out of 500 companies listed in the S&P 500.

This index represents about 80% of the market capitalization of all U.S. stocks and includes the largest companies in the country. AbbVie, which ranks 24th in the index with a market capitalization of $312 billion, is worth less than the cash balance Buffett holds.

During 2024, Buffett sold massive amounts of his key holdings such as Apple ($80 billion) and Bank of America (over $10 billion), accumulating this amount of liquidity at a time when the markets were hitting record levels.

In his annual letter, he noted that attractive opportunities are few, and holding liquidity is not always a preference, but rather a result of the absence of enticing options. Nevertheless, he confirmed that Berkshire is still investing most of its money in stocks, particularly American ones, and that this trend will not change anytime soon.

Berkshire Hathaway's performance in 2025 proved the effectiveness of this decision, as the company's stock rose by more than 17%, while the S&P 500 index fell by 8%.
