As an ordinary user, I actually started using centralized exchanges (CEX) at first, like Binance and OKX. They are really convenient to use, especially for withdrawals and fiat deposits, which are quite smooth. But later I began to try decentralized exchanges (DEX), like Uniswap and PancakeSwap. Some new projects launch especially quickly, and I can control my wallet assets without worrying about the risk of the platform running away.
However, DEX still has a higher threshold; you need to figure out your wallet, gas fees, and network by yourself.
Now I use both depending on the situation. If I need to make a quick trade or have a large amount of funds, I will use CEX; if I want to grab new coins or pay attention to early project development, I will use DEX.
If you are a beginner, I suggest starting with a centralized exchange, but don't reject DEX either. The earlier you learn, the more you earn, and the sooner you achieve freedom!
