A court of appeals reinstated Donald Trump's tariffs
The surprising ruling on Wednesday from the United States Court of International Trade had threatened to annul or at least delay the imposition of tariffs on most of the United States' trading partners. A federal appeals court in the United States reinstated President Donald Trump's broader tariffs on Thursday, a day after a trade court ruled that Trump had overstepped his authority in imposing the tariffs and had ordered an immediate block of them.
The Federal Circuit Court of Appeals in Washington did not issue any opinion or reasoning, but ordered the plaintiffs to respond by June 5 and the Trump Administration by June 9. It issued a brief order granting a temporary suspension of the block while weighing a longer suspension, according to news agency Bloomberg.
