The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has officially dismissed its civil lawsuit against Binance and its founder, Changpeng Zhao. Filed in June 2023, the lawsuit accused the crypto exchange of misusing customer funds and misleading investors. The dismissal, submitted on May 29, 2025, marks a notable shift in regulatory approach under the Trump $TRUMP

administration.

Binance celebrated the decision on social media platform X, calling it a “huge win for crypto.” The development comes in the wake of a $4.3 billion settlement reached in 2023, after which Zhao stepped down as CEO while retaining majority ownership of the company.

While this move reflects a broader softening in crypto enforcement, experts caution that future regulatory actions by the SEC remain a possibility.
