🔍 #CEXvsDEX101 : What I’ve Learned So Far
Choosing between a CEX (Centralized Exchange) and a DEX (Decentralized Exchange) isn't just about preference, it's a strategy. Here's how I break it down:
💡 CEX Pros & Cons:
✅ Pros:
High liquidity & fast trades
Easier for beginners (UI/UX is smooth)
Customer support when things go wrong
❌ Cons:
You don’t control your keys (not your keys, not your coins)
Risk of hacks or withdrawal freezes
🔓 DEX Pros & Cons:
✅ Pros:
Full control of funds
Often access to newer/low-cap gems early
No KYC in most cases
❌ Cons:
Can be complex to use
Risk of failed/wrong transactions
Slippage and low liquidity issues on some pairs
🤔 My Strategy:
I use CEXs for convenience, especially when I need high-volume trades, stablecoins, or fiat ramps.
I switch to DEXs when I'm hunting early opportunities or want full custody during volatile times.
🧠 Tips for DEX First-Timers:
1. Triple-check contract addresses (avoid fake tokens!)
2. Start with small amounts to get used to the interface
3. Use tools like DeBank or DEX aggregators to save on gas & avoid slippage
4. Always keep some ETH/BNB for gas fees
