"Securities" Drops Its Case Against Exchange #Binance
Court documents showed that the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) dropped its lawsuit against Binance, the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange.
A joint settlement agreement was submitted to the federal court in Washington, D.C., signed by lawyers for the SEC, Binance, and its founder Changpeng Zhao.
The SEC had accused the defendants in 2023 of artificially inflating trading volumes, diverting customer funds, failing to restrict U.S. customers from the Binance platform, and misleading investors about market control measures.
The commission also accused Binance of illegally facilitating trading in many tokens that the previous leadership of the SEC considered unregistered securities.
