PANews, May 30, reports that Netflix will launch an 8-episode limited series (The Altruists) recreating the FTX fraud case, produced by Higher Ground, a production company founded by the Obamas. The series stars Julia Garner, known for (Inventing Anna), as former Alameda Research CEO Caroline Ellison, and Anthony Boyle, known for (The Guinness Family), as FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF).
The story focuses on 'the process in which two idealists, SBF and Ellison, attempt to reshape the global financial system, but ultimately misappropriate $8 billion.' SBF was sentenced to 25 years in prison last year for fraud, while Ellison received a 2-year sentence. The script is co-written by Graham Moore, known for (The Imitation Game), and Jacqueline Hoyt, producer of (The Underground Railroad). The production team stated that the details of this case have become a 'subject of daily study for the team over the past three years.'
