It's a system that allows smart contracts to receive data from the real world to function properly on the blockchain.
đĄ Since smart contracts can't access external information on their own, oracles send them data such as prices, weather, or sports scores.

"A contract that pays if it rains in Buenos Aires needs an oracle to inform it if it actually rained."
