Donald Trump Jr. Says Family Turned to Bitcoin After Being ‘De-Banked’ Post-Presidency
At the Bitcoin 2025 conference in Las Vegas, Donald Trump Jr. revealed that his family embraced cryptocurrency after traditional financial institutions cut ties with them following Donald Trump’s presidency.
> “The banks cut us off. Insurance left. It was brutal,” Trump Jr. said. “That’s when Eric and I pushed our dad to look into Bitcoin.”
Initially skeptical of crypto due to their deep roots in real estate, Trump Jr. admitted he didn’t understand the appeal of digital assets. But after experiencing financial roadblocks and legal pressures, he said the vulnerabilities of the traditional banking system became clear.
> “We built buildings. Bitcoin didn’t make sense at first,” he said.
He added that Donald Trump, who once called Bitcoin a “scam,” is now warming up to crypto as part of his new campaign.
Trump Jr. also mocked Vice President Kamala Harris’s recent pro-crypto comments, saying:
> “I’d empty my crypto wallet just to watch her try to explain blockchain. Total word salad.”
