Metaplanet issues 50 million dollars in new debt to buy more Bitcoin

The Japanese company Metaplanet raises 50 million dollars through zero-interest bonds to increase its Bitcoin holdings, with Evo Fund as the sole subscriber. Metaplanet, the Japanese investment firm, is raising 50 million dollars through a private placement of zero-interest bonds as part of its strategy to increase its exposure to Bitcoin.

On May 28, the company announced that it was raising 50 million dollars through bonds. The bonds are issued in denominations of 1.25 million dollars and do not accrue interest. Investors will not receive regular payments, and any potential profit is expected to come from the redemption value of the bonds.

Evo Fund, an investment firm based in the Cayman Islands, will be the sole bondholder. The investment firm has been the main backer of Metaplanet in its Bitcoin acquisition strategy, subscribing to multiple rounds of zero-interest bonds from Metaplanet, providing capital for its Bitcoin purchases
