š Eid al-Adha 2025 in Pakistan: Official Moon Sighting Update š
The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee has announced that the Zil Hajj moon was not sighted in Pakistan on Tuesday, May 27, 2025. Consequently, the first day of Zil Hajj 1446 AH will be observed on Thursday, May 29, 2025, and Eid al-Adha will be celebrated nationwide on Saturday, June 7, 2025.
Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad confirmed that no credible moon sighting reports were received from any part of the country, including major cities like Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar, Quetta, and Islamabad. The decision was also supported by astronomical data from SUPARCO, indicating that the moon's age at sunset on May 27 was approximately 11 hours, making its visibility highly unlikely.
Eid al-Adha, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, commemorates Prophet Ibrahim's willingness to sacrifice his son in obedience to God. Preparations for the festival are underway across Pakistan, with cattle markets set up for the purchase of sacrificial animals.
May this Eid bring peace, joy, and prosperity to all. Eid Mubarak! ššš
