US media: Meta is restructuring its artificial intelligence team to speed up the rollout of new products and features.

According to Axios, Meta Platforms is restructuring its artificial intelligence team to accelerate the rollout of new products and features. In an internal memo on Tuesday, Chief Product Officer Chris Cox announced that the new structure will divide the team into two parts: 1. An AI product team led by Connor Hayes, responsible for the Meta AI Assistant, AI Studio tools, and developing AI features for Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. 2. A general artificial intelligence foundational team co-led by Ahmad Al-Dahle and Amir Frenkel, focusing on the development of the Llama model, enhancing inference capabilities, and multimedia and speech technologies. The company's existing AI research department, FAIR (Fundamental Artificial Intelligence Research), will remain independent, but a specific team focused on multimedia technology will be merged into the newly established AGI foundational team.
