Gaza Ceasefire Announcement: A Ray of Hope or a Political Move?

Hamas has announced its acceptance of a U.S.-mediated proposal for a 70-day ceasefire, which includes the release of 10 Israeli hostages, a prisoner exchange, and a partial withdrawal of Israeli forces.

However, U.S. envoy Steve Wutkoff has called this claim "completely unacceptable," and the Israeli government has also dismissed the proposal as unserious.

Meanwhile, Gaza continues to face a dire humanitarian crisis with extreme shortages of food, water, and medicine, and 95% of agricultural land reportedly rendered unusable.

In recent days, dozens of Palestinians including women and children have been killed in Israeli strikes, raising global concern.

Conflicting statements and deep mistrust have made the path to peace even more complex.

Can this ceasefire truly become a reality?

Can innocent lives still be saved?
