On May 25, the government of Pakistan announced a new national initiative: to allocate 2,000 megawatts (MW) of energy to power Bitcoin mining centers and artificial intelligence (AI) data centers.

This strategic decision by the Ministry of Finance has a clear objective: to leverage the country's energy surplus. Due to the growth of solar energy and high electricity rates, many consumers have migrated to alternative sources, leaving a surplus of electricity.

With this plan, the government aims for two major benefits: to create high-tech jobs for the population and to attract international investors. This is just the first phase of a series of actions to transform the country into a digital powerhouse.
