What is Bitcoin Pizza Day?

Bitcoin Pizza Day is observed annually on May 22nd to mark the first-ever real-world transaction made with Bitcoin. The event dates back to 2010, when a programmer named Laszlo Hanyecz spent 10,000 Bitcoins to buy two Papa John’s pizzas. Another user accepted the cryptocurrency and arranged the delivery, proving for the first time that Bitcoin could function as a medium of exchange. At the time, Bitcoin was worth very little, but today, that same amount would be valued in the millions—making it one of the most iconic and costly pizza orders in history.
